This provides the best opportunity for National and State awards. Clearly we have state level riders at all ages
and were rated in several categories nationally last year. I believe we will be #1 in the country in Poles,
Stakes and Barrels; both Regular Registry and Breeding Stock. Last year, we were #1 Nationally in Stakes and were in
the Top Five in Barrels and Poles despite the fact we missed the first two months of shows!
Select the show schedule that best fits your goals. There is absolutely no pressure or suggestion that everyone
attend every show! NC are really shown as filler dates, if we need to "catch up" in points.
We have the horses and the riders that can develop "reasonably" and "intelligently" over time in order to reach the very
highest level! I believe everyone's long-term goal should be a National / World Championship for the 2006 Season.
Given the commitment to a high work ethic everything will fall in place. Why should be have such lofty goals?
Because you really are that good! Some of you will add Reining this summer and this will be a very big part in your
journey towards a college scholarship. It begins with accepting a challenge and ends with reaching a goal.
There are very few opportunities in anyone's lifetime; to compete for a World Championship . . . you have that opportunity.
Some of our riders, more than just one or two, will in fact become World Champions! They will be the ones with the work
ethic, the ones who stick with it. The winners will concentrate on desired results and the losers will worry about the
penalties of failure! It will not be a coincidence that the champions will be A, B+ students ... no C, D student will
ever be a champion ... they simply never go hand in hand ... never!
Several of you will win awards at the State Level this year. You ride very young horses and reasonably it will
be the 2006 World Show where you will be positioned to impact the Worlds' as a group. (The word is synergy). I
challenge you to "see if I'm right", THIS YEAR as a couple of us win World Championships in MORE than one event.
Be very clear about what happens when you "WIN" an award ... the excitement and pride of being "handed" a buckle is more
complex ... no one "handed" you what you "earned" along the way. The culmination of a lot of hard fought battles win
the war and the victor is always awarded the spoils.
How excited you are when you "WIN", how much "respect" (reverence), you have for that buckle is directly related to how
hard you worked to earn it!
Please check the Paint Horse Journal to check on calendar dates for all the show coming up. Remember we only do
the running part of the show bill so a two-day show does not generally mean we are involved both days.
Let's have a great show season! Mr. John
